At last I can reveal the full details! I have won the Atlanta Review 2019 International Poetry Contest for my poem “Suzie,” about a memorable (though awful) family pet, who was only one of the reasons other children were not allowed to visit our home. The poem will appear in the fall issue of that worthy magazine along with the work of 24 finalists. Many thanks to Editor Karen Head, Managing Editor JC Reilly, and especially judge Dan Vera, who picked my poem out of a lineup of more than 1300. Oh, yeah — there’s a $1000 prize as well.
